Question #6:

Is it possible to temporarily borrow the rights to a pre-existing fictional character?

I don't know if this is a silly or dumb question to ask, but I thought I might as well and see if anyone perhaps has an answer.

I'd like to become an animator some time into the future, but right now I'm still learning the basics. Even though I am capable of coming up with my own original idea's for stories and characters, what I would really love to do is create cartoon tributes of some of my favorite fictional characters from the past... but I know that the companies that own them frown upon anyone using their characters even if what you are doing is something you don't plan on making any money off of (really, all I want to do is entertain).

The characters in question that I am wanting to make cartoons of are really, REALLY obscure ones that I doubt anyone honestly remembers (like Hanna-Barbera's "Hokey Wolf" or a Fox character from a 1947 Merrie Melodies cartoon "The Foxy Duckling"). I want to make cartoons of them because I feel they are great characters, but they never really got the chance to stay the spot light for very long and history has mostly forgotten about them (for the most part). My idea is to continue their legacy so people can remember them once again, even if my animation techniques aren't up to par with what they did. My idea isn't to modernize them, but to try and achieve a style and feel similar to what they starred in (and improve on the original... if I can).

I'm assuming that if I were to start making a cartoon of either character, Warner Bros would send me a Cease-and-Desist letter if they were to ever found out about it.

So, is it actually possible to borrow the rights to a pre-existing fictional character? Exactly how expensive would it be? Does it change depending on the age or popularity of a character? As far as I know, the two characters whom I'd like to make cartoons of aren't in the public domain (and neither are their cartoons, again as far as I know), so I'm assuming I'd have to get official permission (if they are willing to give it).

Can anyone help me out? I have a feeling whatever info anyone tells me will be bad news on my part, but I thought I should find out before I got too deep into this.

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies!

Question #9:

domain and range math question?

Post a 150-200 word count response to the following questions:

o What is the difference between domain and range? Describe a real-life situation that could be modeled by a function.

o Provide feedback about your classmates’ answers.

o Describe the values for x that may not be appropriate values even when they are defined by your classmates’ function. A function could, for example, indicate the amount of bone strength (y) in a living human body over time in years (x). It would not make sense to look at negative years, because the person would not yet be born. Likewise, looking beyond 100 years might not make sense, as many people do not live to be 100.

Question #10:

Trigonometric equations?

Solve for 0≤x<2π. Isolate the variable, sketch a reference triangle (can skip lol), find all solutions within the given domain. Remember to double the domain when solving for a double angle (??? explain). Use trig identities, if needed, to rewrite the functions.

sinx = -1/2

2cosx = √3

sin^2 x = 1/2

Question #13:

The Renaissance - What was is based on?

I cannot for the life of me figure out this question, or find the answer for that matter. If you could tell me or give me a hint to what the answer is that would be great.

The Renaissance was based in the belief that
(A) the authority of the Roman Catholic Church should be obeyed in all instances.
(B) learning was the domain of the upper class
(C) concern for the afterlife must always be the primary focus of human beings.
(D) ancient classical beliefs and forms must be rejected
(E) human potential is important and should be celebrated.

Again, you dont have to give me the straight answer, as that would be cheating, but give me a hint?
Thanks.
